Story Telling at Textile Appreciation Day

I so wanted to go to Gail’s Center for this textile appreciation daythis year. Be sure to watch the whole slideshow. Such lovely things, and I’m sure the stories were indeed just as lovely!

Gail Harker Center for Creative Arts

A wet rainy day  did not deter those who came to share their textiles with us at the studio at Barn House. People came from British Columbia, Canada and  Washington State, U.S.A.  Some textiles had been collected from different parts of the world and others had been handed down through the generations. We passed the textiles carefully around the table to see more closely. The participants told stories about many aspects of the items –  A loving Grandmother who loved to crochet or stitch – young girls in distant countries who sold items in a co-op  for a living. We also talked about techniques and stitches.  I wish I could show you all of the many items that appeared for this study day. Watch for 2015 dates on our website for more Textile Appreciation Days.       Gail Harker
