Here’s where I was a couple of weekends ago, playing with the fibers and helping Gail’s students make some pieces to use with stitch. Delightful, as always!

Level 4 Experimental Stitch and Multi Media – Class name: Opals 

I recently spent a delightful Saturday sharing techniques of feltmaking with the Level 4 students   at Gail Harker’s studio. At this level of study, they have come to apply new techniques to their own areas of focus and design research. All of them had been exposed to fibers and felt, though in varying degrees. Even so, each one, it seems, took something from our time together.

I worked them hard. We had one day of their multi-day stitch session to focus on creating felt for stitch. I took them on a whirlwind tour through a a few breeds of sheep and a number of techniques, as they created small collections of items to take into stitch with Gail.
